Ingredients
  

  • 1 can 15 oz cooked chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or sweetener of your choice
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter or other nut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup dairy-free milk almond, oat, or soy
  • 1/4 cup vegan chocolate chips optional
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional

Instructions
 

  • Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. Optionally, remove the skins for a smoother texture.
  • In a food processor or blender, combine the chickpeas, cocoa powder, maple syrup, peanut butter, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt. Blend until smooth. Add dairy-free milk as needed to achieve a thick batter consistency.
  • If using, fold in the vegan chocolate chips and chopped nuts for extra texture.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch brownie pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft (they'll firm up as they cool).
  • Let the brownies cool down thoroughly before cutting them into squares. Use a sharp knife for clean cuts.

Notes

  • Remove the chickpea skins before blending for a smoother texture. If you don't have a food processor, you can also try using a hand blender.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins, like peanut butter swirls or fruit, to make it your own!
  • If you're skipping nuts, try using sunflower seed butter or applesauce instead of peanut butter.
  • These brownies are naturally gluten-free, but double-check any processed ingredients if needed.
